Sabiha Gokcen Airport is named after Sabiha Gökçen, the first female combat pilot in Turkey and adoptive daughter of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founding President of the Republic of Turkey. It is an airport that services lower budget airlines and smaller flights, however, it is still handling millions of passengers a year and thus is very busy. It is rather far out of the city, and therefore the drive is a long one. The fastest route also may take you down a toll road. Your taxi driver will leave the airport complex and go onto Havaalanı Kavşağı. He will get to a fork and follow the road marked İstanbul/Edirne and merge onto Anadolu Otoyolu/O-4/E80. The driver will follow this road for a distance, before turning onto Barbaros Blv and finally turning right onto Dolmabahçe Gazhane Cd.
